FAQ
What size should the source image be?
A square PNG or SVG of at least 1024×1024px is recommended. The largest output is 1024px (iOS and App Store), so anything smaller gets upscaled and blurry. Small sizes (16–48px) are produced with step-by-step downscaling to avoid jagged edges, but fine text and thin lines are hard to see at those sizes, so a simple design works best.
Why can't iOS icons have a transparent background?
Apple does not allow transparency or an alpha channel in app icons or the 1024px App Store icon. Transparent pixels show up as black and the build may be rejected on submission. This tool fills iOS and store icons with your chosen background color and saves them as PNG without an alpha channel. iOS applies the rounded corners itself, so keep your artwork square.
What is an Android adaptive icon and its safe zone?
On Android 8.0+, a launcher icon is made of a 108×108dp foreground layer and a background layer, which each device crops into a circle, squircle, rounded square and so on. The outer area may be cut off or used for motion effects, so your logo must stay inside the central 66dp-diameter safe zone. The generated ic_launcher_foreground.png already includes the right padding.
What is a PWA maskable icon?
A maskable icon has a full-bleed background so it still looks right when the platform crops it into a circle or another shape (for example on Android home screens). Important content must stay inside the central circle with 80% diameter (the safe zone). It is registered in site.webmanifest with purpose: "maskable". Turn on "Show safe zone" in the preview to check it.
Where do I put the files in Xcode and Android Studio?
iOS: replace the AppIcon.appiconset folder inside your Assets.xcassets with ios/AppIcon.appiconset from the ZIP — Contents.json maps every size automatically. Android: copy the contents of android/res into app/src/main/res (overwrite) to apply the mipmap icons, adaptive icon XML and background color. Web: upload the web folder files to your site root and paste the tags from html-snippet.txt into <head>.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All resizing and ZIP packaging happens in your browser with Canvas. Your image is never sent to or stored on any server.
