FAQ
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding, resizing and encoding all happen inside your browser, so your images never leave your device. A slow connection won't slow down the conversion either.
Which formats are supported?
You can open PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF, WebP, TIFF, AVIF, ICO and HEIC/HEIF files, and save as PNG, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, WebP, AVIF or ICO. TIFF and AVIF input require browser support for those formats; for HEIC, a decoder library is loaded automatically when needed.
What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?
JPEG, BMP and TIFF don't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. To keep transparency, choose PNG, WebP, AVIF or ICO.
What quality setting should I use?
For photos, around 80 for JPEG or 85–90 for WebP/AVIF usually cuts the file size a lot with no visible difference. For images with text or sharp lines, raise the quality or use lossless PNG for crisp results.
Which sizes go into the ICO file?
Every size you tick among 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256px is packed into a single ICO file. Sizes larger than the source image are disabled automatically to avoid blurry upscaling, so use a square image of at least 256px if you need a 256px icon.
Why can't I select AVIF as the output format?
Saving to WebP or AVIF relies on your browser's built-in image encoder, so the option is disabled when your browser can't encode that format. In that case, choose WebP or PNG instead, or use the Windows program above.
