FAQ

What is the difference between "with spaces" and "no spaces"?

"With spaces" counts every character including spaces, excluding line breaks. "No spaces" excludes spaces, tabs, line breaks and full-width spaces. Some emoji may count as 2 characters, so check the rules of the site you are submitting to if it has a strict limit.

How are bytes counted?

Bytes are counted in UTF-8: letters, digits, spaces and line breaks are 1 byte; most Korean, Chinese and Japanese characters are 3 bytes; emoji are 4 bytes. Systems that use other encodings (e.g. EUC-KR, where Korean is 2 bytes) may report different numbers.

How are manuscript pages calculated?

Based on Korean 200-character manuscript paper (20 squares × 10 rows): one character per square including spaces, and each line break starts a new row. Indentation and punctuation placement rules are not applied, so treat it as an estimate.

What is the difference between lines and paragraphs?

Lines are all rows separated by line breaks (including empty ones). Paragraphs are blocks of text separated by blank lines.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser; your text is never uploaded or stored.
